Tucked away in a peaceful corner of this stunning landscape, the hide offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy close encounters with an impressive variety of woodland birds and birds of prey. From the delicate flutter of nuthatches and finches to the commanding presence of buzzards feeding at the daily-baited stations, every visit promises something special.

 

Glossop Woodland Bird Hide Experience

Nestled on the edge of woodland overlooking open rough grassland and moorland, our bird hide in Glossop offers peace, quiet, and exceptional wildlife opportunities. Set in its own secluded location, it provides the perfect setting to relax, observe, and photograph nature at its best.

Exclusive Hire

When you book the hide, it is exclusively yours for the day.

Main hide: Accommodates up to two people

Second hide: a smaller, single-person hide

This ensures a quiet, uninterrupted experience — ideal for photographers and birdwatchers alike.

Bird Species You May See

The hide regularly attracts a wonderful variety of woodland birds, including:

  • Redpoll
  • Siskin
  • Greenfinch & Goldfinch
  • Nuthatch
  • A variety of tits

Particularly popular with photographers are:

  • A strong population of Jays
  • Resident Great Spotted Woodpeckers

Birds of prey such as Buzzards, Ravens, and Sparrowhawks are baited daily and visit frequently. While their arrival cannot be guaranteed, every effort is made to encourage them to the bait station during your visit.

Whether you're an experienced wildlife photographer or simply enjoy watching birds in their natural habitat, this is a special place to spend time.

Evening Tawny Owl Experience

Tawny Owls have bred at the site for over ten years and have become accustomed to human presence.

In the evenings, there is an opportunity to photograph the owls feeding under continuous lighting. The area is fully lit — simply bring your camera, or sit back and enjoy the spectacle without one.

It truly is an unforgettable experience, and to date, every visitor has thoroughly enjoyed it.

There is also the opportunity to photograph and observe the nocturnal tawny owl, which feeds under a constant light source only a few meters away from the hide..

Contributions

A voluntary contribution is requested:

£60 per person – Full Day Session

£50 per person – Evening Owl Session

Facilities

Toilet facilities are available at the house if required.

Accessibility

The hide is located uphill. We are more than happy to carry your equipment, but the access may be challenging for those with mobility difficulties.
